Williamson County Tourism Bureau

During my time at Splattered Ink(2011-2012), a small design agency in Murphysboro Illinois, I had the privilege to work for the Williamson County Tourism Bureau(WCTB). The tourism bureau came to us seeking a redesign of their brand and website with the one stipulation… “We must use their current logo”. They voiced their intention to place more value on the local attractions of  Southern Illinois, with a focus on Williamson County. They had worked heartily to make it easier for people to find and experience the many points of interest in Southern Illinois. As a native to the area I knew very well that Southern Illinois has much to offer for those willing to explore. …then the idea came to me! “Exploration Made EZ.” This is exactly the phrase to describe what WCTB was doing.

Secondary to clarifying Williamson County Tourism Bureau’s purpose(through branding), I was tasked with the re-design of their website. The website needed to showcase the new branding, promote the points of interest, and invoke a sense of adventure. To achieve these objectives I first organized the information in such a way that it would be intuitive and easy to navigate. Next I focused on re-wording the pages and sections of the website to encourage exploration and to be concise. In order to reinforce the message that Williamson County was worth exploring, I created graphics that utilized captivating photography of the locations, beautiful typography, and rustic textures.
